Our history

Our journey began in 1981 when Kent Egerton-Warburton, a farmer and visionary software developer, created the first version of Agrimaster.

The software was born out of a need to simplify financial management for farming operations, and has been evolving ever since.

The story of Agrimaster

Over 40 years ago our journey started.

1967
Kent Egerton-Warburton joins UWA Farm Management Services Laboratory and begins using their cash flow budgeting system.
Late 1970s
Kent attends a farm management seminar that includes a demonstration of a British dairy management system on an Apple II computer, sparking his interest in computer programming.
1981
Agrimaster is born as Kent starts developing a budgeting and cash flow software application for farm management, primarily for his own farm.
Mid 1982
The first version of Agrimaster, Agrimaster 1, is sold in July.
Late 1982
Alan Moir, a distributor, starts promoting Agrimaster to farmers.
1984
Agrimaster 2 for DOS is released.
1988
Agrimaster wins first prize at the Sydney Royal Easter Show for the "Farm Software Competition" financial section.
1989
Agrimaster 3 is released, offering a more sophisticated interface and better budgeting worksheets.
Agrimaster wins an "Australian Design Award."
1990
1000 Agrimasters sold.
1992
Kent becomes a full-time software developer and starts working on the first Windows version of Agrimaster.
1996
Agrimaster 4 for Windows is released, offering comprehensive budgeting and cashbook features.
1997
Natalie Egerton-Warburton starts Rural Software Support, a training company specialising in Agrimaster.
1999
David Egerton-Warburton stops farming full-time and joins the training company, which rebrands to NEWDEW.
2000
“GST, the Big Bang” - Agrimaster releases its first GST version in preparation for the Goods and Services Tax introduction in July.
2001
Agrimaster Pty Ltd is founded, combining NEWDEW and Kent's software development company, Korellup Software.
2003
Agrimaster integrates with Wagemaster for payroll.
2004
Agrimaster 5 is released.
2005
Businessmaster, a version for small businesses, is released.
2008
Mastergroup is founded, becomes the new company trading entity and the home of Agrimaster.
2009
Mastergroup won the Family Business of Australia second generation award and David was a finalist for the 40 under 40 Awards.
2010
Agrimaster 6 is released, along with a cloud backup solution called M:Drive.
2011 - 2016
Over this period, multiple minor versions of Agrimaster 6 were released.
2017
Clara the “Chief Morale Officer”, joined Mastergroup.
2018
Single Touch Payroll (STP) is introduced, and Agrimaster-Plus subscription is introduced in response.
The first generation of File Manager were released.
2020
Agrimaster 6.5 is released, and the company transitions to a subscription-based model.
2021
Kent is Awarded an Order of Australia for his contribution to agriculture and technology.
2022
Agrimaster celebrates its 40th anniversary with various events, including a cocktail party.
